US job growth slows in April; unemployment rate rises to 3.9pc
The unemployment rate rose to 3.9 per cent from 3.8 per cent, still staying below 4 per cent for the 27th straight month. Wages increased 3.9 per cent in the 12 months through April after rising 4.1 per cent in March. Wage growth in a 3.0 per cent-3.5 per cent range is seen as consistent with the Fed’s 2 per cent inflation target.
